1920-1921 SEASON
|
This
is a (long term) temporary page in order to provide stats and reports
for the 1920-1921 season. There are links to a single Surrey Comet report
(as a JPG picture) for each game via the match by match stats below. Eventually
it is hoped to provide a full season summary and multiple reports for
each game with any other news items but this will be some way into the
future.

Brief
summary of the season:
|
Kingstonian
had to groundshare with Leyland Motors as the lease for Richmond Road
had been given to Leylands. Leylands also took priority on home games.
Another aspect of this agreement was that Leyland Motors took over the
Kingstonian Reserves fixtures in the Southern Suburban League.
Kingstonian had a series of cup runs in various competitions and won the Surrey Charity Shield. Their biggest game however was at home to Bishop Auckland in the Third Round Proper of the Amateur Cup where they lost 2-0. They also had a remarkable run of success against Wimbledon knocking them out of three cup competitions, including the F.A. Cup, and taking 3 out of 4 points in the league. This was despite Wimbledon finishing 2nd in the league. The consequence of these cup runs was that only 3 league games were played in the Athenian League up to 12th February, all in the first three weeks of the season, and this caused fixture congestion. On one occasion over Easter two games were played on the same day, and then another game a day later. This affected league form and they were to finish 2nd from bottom and had to (successfully) apply for re-election. |
Details
of the Reserves will be added at a later date.
