Report on postponement of match against West Norwood scheduled for 27th September 1919 from Surrey Advertiser dated 1st October 1919.

KINGSTONIANS v. WEST NORWOOD.
TIE POSTPONED OWING TO TRAIN STRIKE.

Considerably more than a thousand spectators gathered on the Richmond-road ground, Kingston on Saturday, for the purpose of witnessing the F.A. Cup-tie between the Kingstomans and West Norwood, added interest being taken in the fact that the former had a particularly strong team ready for the encounter. The West Norwood eleven however, did not arrive. It was naturally thought they would in consequence of the railway strike make the journey by motor, but, after some twenty minutes' waiting beyond the advertised time for the kick-off a telegram was received by the Kingstonians' hon. sec., Mr. A. North, as follows: "Transport impossible. Unable to get to Kingston.- West Norwood." The telegram bore the time of handing-in as 11.25 a.m. The kick-off had been timed for 4 p.m. Following upon the receipt of the telegram, the tie was, of course, postponed, and to the greatly disappointed crowd were issued "pass-out checks" for re-admission to the next home match.
